The TERI SAS One-Year MSc Economics Programme with a specialisation in Environment and Natural Resource Economics is an intensive, interdisciplinary programme designed to equip students with strong analytical and quantitative skills to address contemporary environmental and resource challenges. The curriculum integrates economic theory, econometrics, and policy analysis with a deep focus on climate change, energy, and natural resource economics. With an emphasis on applied research, real-world policy issues, and exposure to leading practitioners, the programme prepares graduates for careers in research, public policy, international organisations, and the sustainability sector.
• Developing a rigorous and comprehensive economic understanding of environmental sustainability.
• Provide rigorous and hands-on training in qualitative and quantitative methods in Economics.
• Enhancing research aptitude among the students and facilitating the formation of a research ecosystem.
• Identification of the contemporary real-world problems and enhancement of the analytical skills for their resolution.
At the end of pursuing the MSc (Economics) with specialization in Environment and Resource Economics program the students are expected to:
• Build a strong foundation in Ecological, Environmental, and Natural Resource Economics to understand real-world challenges.
• Learn by doing economic concepts, theories, and methods to analyze, appraise, and evaluate a wide range of economic problems and policies.
• Develop strong research and writing skills through term papers, assignments, oral presentation, research proposals and Master’s Thesis.
• Gain hands-on quantitative skills by working with real data using STATA, R, and other statistical packages for statistical and econometric analysis.

Women In Economics and Policy :
TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Women in Economics and Policy (WiEP), marking an important step towards strengthening collaboration in the areas of research, teaching, capacity building, and policy engagement. The MoU establishes a framework for long-term institutional cooperation aimed at promoting gender-responsive and evidence-based approaches to economics and public policy.
Under this partnership, TERI SAS and WEP will work together to undertake joint research projects, organise academic and policy-oriented events, and facilitate knowledge exchange through seminars, workshops, conferences, and training programmes. The collaboration will also support student and faculty engagement through internships, lectures, mentorship initiatives to name a few. These activities are intended to foster critical dialogue, build professional capacity, and encourage greater participation of women in economics and policy domains.
This MoU reflects the shared vision of TERI SAS and WiEP to advance inclusive development, strengthen the interface between research and policy, and contribute to the creation of more equitable and effective public policy frameworks. By combining academic expertise with practitioner networks, the partnership seeks to generate high-quality research outputs, inform policy processes, and nurture the next generation of scholars and policy professionals.

About The Oikonomia Club:
Oikonomia, the Economics Club of TERI School of Advanced Studies, was founded in 2022 by the M.Sc. Economics batch under the guidance of Dr. Priyanka Arora. The club serves as a vibrant platform for students to engage in the world of economics beyond traditional coursework, cultivating a passion for the subject through both innovative and interactive learning experiences.
Our initiatives encompass diverse formats such as “Econopoly”, mock auctions, case study competitions, and group discussions, complemented by expert lectures and panel sessions.
