Dr. Shantanu De Roy is an economist by training and an alumnus of the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning [CESP], Jawaharlal Nehru University [JNU]. Dr. De Roy specializes in Macroeconomics and the Political Economy of Development. More specifically, his core specialization is in Labour Studies, Agrarian Development, and issues pertaining to the Indian and the Global economies. He has almost 15 years of experience in teaching and research. Prior to joining the Economics programme at the TERI School of Advanced Studies [TERI SAS, formerly TERI University], Dr. De Roy was with the Foundation for Agrarian Studies—a research institution—that was followed by teaching engagements at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) and the St. Stephens' College, University of Delhi. He has designed and offered several courses at the Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate programmes at TERI SAS and other Institutions. These include Issues in Indian Economy, Development Economics, Indian Agricultural Development: Contemporary Issues, Labour Economics, International Economics, Macroeconomics I and II, Growth Economics and International Economics. Additionally, Dr. De Roy has mentored and supervised several students, over the years, for the Master’s Thesis and is part of the Research Advisory Committees of the doctoral students. He has publications in the peer-reviewed and top quality journals that includes, among others, Economia Politica, Canadian Journal of Development Studies, Agrarian South: Journal of Political Economy and the Economic and Political Weekly. He has chapters in edited volumes that were published by the Routledge and Oxford University Press. Dr. De Roy is presently a member of the Academic Council, Internal Quality Assurance Cell at the TERI SAS, apart from his responsibilities as the Head of the Department of Policy and Management Studies.
