TERI University organized the 2015 Young Researchers' School (YRS) at the TERI University campus, New Delhi, India from 5 to 16 October with the theme 'Sustainable Energy for Transforming Lives: Availability, Accessibility, Affordability'.
YRS was organized in association with the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS).
The main goal of the YRS was to provide graduate students with an opportunity to better understand the spectrum of challenges that underpin sustainable development.
By assembling these young scientists together for an intensive two-week workshop, the School fostered the growth of a network of sustainability scholars and professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.
In view of Asia’s situation of environmental degradation, occurrence of natural disasters, increasing levels of urbanization, persistence of poverty, all of which are impacting on human, social and economic development, the 2015 YRS provided participants with the opportunity to explore different dimensions of sustainability issues derived from the current situation, specifically how policies, projects and partnerships in sustainable energy, energy efficiency and renewable energy may provide integrative solutions.
