This year the TERI University celebrated the International Youth Day by planting trees. The University's Eco Club organized a tree plantation drive in collaboration with SWECHA, a non-governmental organization, on 12th August 2014 in front of the campus.
Dr Joachim Michael Schmerbeck, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural Resources inaugurated the plantation drive by planting the first sapling. Thereafter, students actively volunteered in planting several native species in the area. About 100 saplings of native species were planted during the drive namely Neem, Jamun, Imli, Kachnar, Bel, Baheda, Moolshree, Arjun and Amaltas. Organic manure was added as nutrition. Neighbouring slum children also joined the plantation drive along with the TERI University students.
