With increasing demand for interdisciplinary water professionals in diverse set of organizations, a student pursuing M.Sc programme in Water Science and Governance is sure to have a first mover advantage in the integrated water management arena. 95% of our Alumni are currently working in corporate, think-tanks, NGOs, civil society organizations, research institutions etc.
TERI SAS’s programmes, faculty, campus, way of teaching, is a class apart from the other institutions which offer the core courses. Programmes like mine Water Science & Governance has helped me become a ‘social scientist’ along with appropriate knowledge of other linked issues such as water law, water economics, and gender and water dimensions and how to use GIS technology in the water planning and management. Apart from the programme perks, faculty is the cherry on the cake, so much cooperative, understanding, patient, knowledgeable and perfect guides. The mode of teaching is extremely interactive and helps you think beyond the core tracks. The field trips are perfect ways for having hands on experience.
M.Sc Water Science and Governance is an excellent course which provided me with a holistic exposure to water management through practical and real-time learning environment. The classroom training is highly interesting and interactive, and the faculty is accomplished, friendly and approachable. During the coursework, I have not only grown professionally but also personally. I have acquired the art of thinking and applying my skills.
TERI University’s M.Sc. in Water Science and Governance Program is a very different course from the regular ones. This course is a great blend of social, environmental, technical and economic aspects of water. The vision behind the course is that water is kept as a central theme and is viewed from various conceptual lenses (institutions, gender dynamics, ecological, environmental, financial, technical and economic). This course is a gateway to enter many different sectors i.e. agriculture, industry and research. The uniqueness of the course lies in the fact that it allows people from different backgrounds to view water from their own conceptual lenses. Our course had students from core engineering backgrounds to anthropology; from science to economics. The department has helped me land at very good places. I got an opportunity to peruse my internship with Coca-Cola India Private limited where I got a significant exposure on WASH and Water Replenishment practices of the company. This helped me groom my professional skills and understand water and its associated practical challenges. Currently, I am working with Solidaridad Network Asia Limited in their Leather, Cotton and Dairy portfolio where I work on quantitative and qualitative aspects of water.
Water Science is one of the unique programme, it gave me ample opportunities to learn all dimensions of water. I loved the Goa trip most in year 2015, I got my first exposure to industrial work with coke and found myself lucky, the environment is very free & refreshing to entertain & learning for research. TERI University helped producing research platform & that is why I, am working at TERI as Research Associate.
Being an environmental engineer, TERI University was an appropriate choice to prove postgraduation for mainstreaming into water science. My scientific and technical knowledge got evolved into a multidisciplinary avenue where I was exposed to subjects and equity dimensions of water. Apart from the programme with the various environmental activities and opportunities for students to interact and learn from national global leaders with events such as Urban Wash and many more organised by the government of India and USAID.
The TERI SAS is known for its dedicated research orientation, knowledge of sustainable development and policy formulation, and multi-disciplinary approach to solving problems. The TERI SAS actively addresses gaps in a holistic manner in the field of water and natural sciences, public policy, sustainable development and governance.

The introduction of this new Student Output/ Major Project section aims at highlighting the exceptional work done by our students during their Major Projects.
Laying strong emphasis on practical knowledge, Major Project at TERI SAS is a mandatory exercise in which the students work with industry to gain real-world work experience.
The 16-20 week-long Major Project prepares the students for real-world work environment followed by submission of an academic thesis for evaluation.
It’s hard to categorize the work of our students as all our students put extreme hard work to make their Project better than their peers. But there is always a place for exceptional work that stands out and calls for attention.
Here are some inspirational Major Project outputs by our students which not only stand out but have also left a deep impact on socio-economic aspects of people’s lives in general.
