Programme Overview
Rapid urbanisation in India is both - an opportunity for economic growth and a challenge for ensuring equitable access to basic services and sustainable development of cities. Making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable by 2030 as enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goal 11 is imperative at all scales - global, national, regional and local. While interventions through policy decisions to meet the targets are well-entrenched, the requirement for holistically trained professional manpower to lead through smart solutions-oriented approach for addressing these challenges in a sustainable manner is critical. PGDUDM is designed to create a cadre of trained sustainable urban development practitioners who have an ability to work on cross-cutting themes of urban development - policy, planning, environment, infrastructure.
