A seminar was organised on ‘Nuclear power, radiation and regulation: A development perspective’ in Mascot Hotel, Trivandrum, Kerala on 6th and 7th January 2016. The event was organized by Kerala State Higher Education Council, Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy and Training, TERI University & Nuclear Law Association, India Supported by Department of Atomic Energy.
The objective of the seminar was to understand the prospects of nuclear energy in India’s developmental activities and also to learn about the legal framework put in place for its regulation.
In this regard, the Seminar discussed two case studies- one relating to Supreme Court judgment on the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project and the other on the lessons learnt from the Fukushima Nuclear accident in Japan.
Nuclear Scientists, Energy Administrators/Regulators, Lawyers, Research Scholars, Journalists and Academicians participated in the event.
