A webinar series on ‘Air Pollution and Cities’ was organised at TERI SAS. The key webinar titled ‘Ozone pollution in Urban environment’ was organised on 19th November 2015 and the speaker for the webinar was Prof. Viney P. Aneja, Professor, Air Quality and Environment Technology, Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, North Carolina State University. Dr Aneja is currently a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the TERI University.
Dr Aneja explained how ground-level ozone is a threat to public health.
Air Quality Index of Delhi exceeds to dangerous limits because of these pollutants during summer time. People who work outdoors are more at risk but nowadays it is found that ozone pollution builds up in indoor areas as well because of the various available sources of VOCs (Volatile organic compounds, precursors for ozone formation) which mainly come from paints, varnishes and other solvents.
The webinar focused on all the aspects related to Ozone pollution in the urban environment.
The webinar provided a holistic picture and deals with pollutant's formation to its mitigation measures.
The participants could attend this webinar virtually as well as by being physically present at the campus.
