A one day symposium titled “UrbCon-2019: Reimagining Sheher” was organized by MTech Urban Development and Management Programme (UDM) under the Department of Energy and Environment at TERI SAS on 16th November 2019. This year’s theme was Smart Solutions for Sustainable Cities and Communities. The symposium was generously supported by All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) and IndRAn&d. The keynote address was delivered by Dr O.P. Mathur, Senior Fellow, Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi. The eminent speakers in the symposium were Ms. Amanjot Kaur, Project Manager, AIILSG, Dr. Chandrani Bandyopadhyay Neogi from National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Dr. Kulwant Singh, CEO, 3R Foundation, Ms. Vaishaly from Environmental Design Solutions (EDS) and Mr. Vikas Chandra, Financing and PPP expert in Smart City Management Unit from Deloitte. The symposium included seminars, exhibition of student work and competitions.
The TERI SAS Alumni Meet 2019 (Reminiscence-2019) was held on 16th November, with a carbon-neutral theme sponsored by A Series and Power Grid. The meet aimed to build synergies between Alumni, University, and students.
TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) in collaboration with the Government of India Rooftop Solar Technical Assistance Program supported by the World Bank hosted the “2nd International Conference on Business, Economics and Sustainable Development (ICBESD-2019)” on January 17-18, 2019. An overwhelming response of more than 150 papers was received from eminent national and international institutes including the IIMS, IITs, central universities and other prestigious business schools. The conference comprised three panel discussions on emerging themes of health finance, circular economy, and solar rooftop systems and 16 parallel paper presentation sessions with eminent academicians, corporate leaders and policy-makers chairing the sessions on various themes relating to the Sustainable Development Goals. The conference was a unique platform for faculty, researchers, students, corporate leaders and other stakeholders to deliberate on the emerging horizons to meet the mammoth challenge of sustainable development.
