“Emerson Centre of Excellence for Sustainability Studies” launched at TERI School of Advanced Studies on June 30, 2022, as a part of their long-term collaborative relationship. The Centre will focus on promoting and strengthening research based learning on key areas of sustainability. The Centre shall align with the ‘Greening With’ theme of the sustainability agenda of Emerson.
Mr. Michael Train, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, Emerson and Dr. Amit Paithankar, Managing Director, South Asia, Emerson, Prof. Prateek Sharma, VC TERI SAS and Prof. Shaleen Singhal, Dean (Research and Partnerships), faculty members of TERI SAS and Emerson delegation members, launched the Centre of Excellence.
A lecture on 'Gender and Sustainability-Carving Roles for New Age Sustainability Professionals' was held on June 28th, 2022 by two alumni of the MA SDP Program- Kanika Joshi and Roshan Rathod who have been working in this sector for a few years nationally and internationally. The speakers navigated the audience through their personal journeys and experience in the gender and sustainability space. They took the listeners from the basics of gender differences and feminism to their experience of working on the ground with women of local and marginalized communities. Major themes of the discussion included the aspects of project creation with respect to accessibility, ownership, and decision making opportunities of the women that are non-negotiable.
