Dr Gopal K Sarangi is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department (HoD) of the Department of Policy and Management Studies (DoPMS), at TERI SAS with more than 24 years of research and consulting experience. His primary domain of research covers energy market and regulation, green finance and related financing issues such as climate financing, sustainable development financing, carbon market, industrial decarbonisation and ESG issues, intersection of new energy technologies, fuels and resources with public policies, social systems and processes, energy and climate nexus, governance and institutional analysis of energy transition questions, geopolitics of energy transition, energy modelling and forecasting, and impact assessment of energy and environmental interventions. He has contributed as PI, Co-PI, Advisor and team member to several collaborative projects funded by DFID, EPSRC, World Bank, British Academy, UNDP, Prosper.Net, ICIMOD, Norwegian Research Council (NRC) and Government of India (GoI) and various state governments in India. He has contributed to the policy making as a nominated member by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) of GoI in the selection of villages for their performance in renewable energy domain and in their carbon neutrality. To his credit, he has been chosen as an Independent Director of UGVCL, Gujarat – one of the most efficient and pioneer distribution utilities of the state. He has published several peer-reviewed research papers in the domain of his research and has been invited to deliver talks in several national and international forums and platforms. He has been taken honorary positions in various universities within India and outside. He has visited Freie University, Berlin, Germany, as a DAAD Research Fellow, visited DMU, UK as a Project Research Fellow, and visited Dundee University, Scotland as a Project Research Fellow, and visited UTS, Sydney, Australia as a Key Technology Partnership (KTP) research fellow. He has also been taken honorary positions as a Visiting Professor at Nalanda University, Rajgiri, Bihar, Visiting Professor at Just Transition Research Centre (JTRC), IIT, Kanpur, Honorary researcher at CPR, NISER, Odisha and honorary researcher at DEFT, Odisha. He teaches courses on Energy Economics, Energy and Sustainable Development, Carbon Market and Energy, Economics of Renewable Energy, Development Economics, Managerial Economics and Environmental Economics.
