This course is designed with an engineering focus and application. It is applicable if you want to enhance your understanding on clean energy sector. The course covers solar power, wind power, bio-fuel and other RE technologies, energy efficiency and management. The programme is flexible and it enables students from across the globe to complete the course work whilst balancing work/life commitments.

The Programme is among the niche courses being offered under Distance Learning Programme providing an opportunity to obtain Diploma in the area of Renewable Energy. The Programme covers renewable energy policies, regulations, technologies, business models and viability assessment techniques. Candidates completing this course acquire the skills required to design, optimize and evaluate the technical and economic viability of renewable energy projects.
The Programme has been developed by sector experts with an aim to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants in the area of Renewable Energy. The profile includes personnel associated with power sector companies (both public and private), utilities, IPPs, government departments, energy management companies, clean energy start-ups, banks and consultancies. It covers participants from both technical as well as non-technical backgrounds.
The Programme has been designed to facilitate flexible, self-paced and value oriented learning environment. The pedagogy involves use of online platform (e-learn portal) for dissemination of study material, regular interaction with sector experts, peer-to-peer learning platforms and open discussion forums. Learning material, as developed/ curated by sector experts, is made available to the students in an online mode, with sequential enrolling of modules. Lectures/ face-to-face interactions with experts are conducted on a regular basis, wherein students come to the University Campus, or, participate through online (webinar) mode. Hard copy of the learning material is also provided to the students.
The evaluation is based on the performance of the students in the assignments as well as end-semester examinations. Students are asked to attempt assignments (module-wise), after studying the learning material using the e-learn portal. The end semester exams are usually conducted in the months of June and December each year.
It has been a very nice and enriching experience for me to be associated with TERI SAS as a student of distance learning Program on Renewable Energy. Renewable energy resources are the need of the hour. Courses provided by TERI SAS are very meticulously designed and give a fairly good insight of the entire renewable energy spectrum - from evolution of technologies to policies and programs.
Course material in terms of study guides, power point presentations, technical references as well as webinars are well organized and are academically very informative and enriching. Attending / going through the webinar sessions seems as good as attending a class in person. Students get all academic support needed for completion of the course – thanks to the learned professors and very helpful support team. Relevant information, for an energy enthusiast as well as for an aspirant looking for a career in the field of renewable energy, is very nicely consolidated. Time management in conducting the exams for distance learning courses as well as peaceful academic ambiance of the “Green Energy Campus” at TERI SAS is highly commendable.
The course introduced me to the fundamentals of Renewable Energy and the varied available technologies. It gave an insight into the Indian energy Sector and how economic policies are impacting the adoption of cleaner energy.
I am a software professional and had very little exposure to this Industry. The course gave me the opportunity to meet many people who have either worked extensively in this field or are enthusiastic about reducing carbon footprint. Interacting with them has improved my understanding of the sector and increased my interest.

While working on various Renewable Energy Projects, I got an opportunity of enrolment for PGDPRE Program at TERI School of Advance Studies during July 2017; and then the excited journey started with the Faculties as well as many industry colleagues for the sharing of knowledge & experience as per the requirements of Syllabus; and I would like to reiterate that TERI’s methodical Syllabus on all the Renewable Energy Technologies has refreshed & induced me towards various innovative aspirations in this segment.
TERI offers a plethora of masters and post graduation courses specializing in environmental science, sustainable and renewable energy which drew my attention for enrolling with them. TERI is also affiliated with UNEP and UNDP India for many projects.
With experienced faculty and specialization in this particular domain I opted for TERI University and as joining a full-time course was not possible for me I chose Distance course in advance post graduation Diploma- Renewable Energy. The study material provided and webinars conducted by subject matter experts are resourceful. Study portal on website is user-friendly, faculties and administration are always available for any assistance. Being an entrepreneur and working with biodegradable and renewable resources, this course has helped me gain knowledge about other renewable energy resources available, how we can implement them and live a green life."
This course is offered in Distance Learning mode. Students pursuing Advance PG Diploma have to complete all four certificates. However, for the students pursuing PG Diploma, the first Certificate i.e. "Renewable Energy Resources and Policies" is mandatory.
