Abstract: The study is a part of two projects carried out at TERI-SRC. The first project is a Prudence check of the high value projects (above Rs.5 crores) taken up by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL). The project was given by the Karnataka Electricity regulatory Commission (KERC). As part of this project, all works taken up by KPTCL during the FY09, FY10 and FY11 which were above Rs.5 crores were studied and a remark was made regarding whether the projects were prudent or not. The main aim of the entire study was to identify the required hike in power transmission tariff in the FY13 in the state of Karnataka. After completion of the study it was observed that around 30% of the projects which were taken up by KPTCL (from FY09 to FY11) were non prudent. On the basis of these findings some suggestions were proposed to KERC.

The second part of the study is an energy audit of an international airport at a metro city. The project consisted of going to the specified location and taking measurements both on the electrical as well as thermal side. After taking the readings the data was analyzed and applicable energy efficient techniques were suggested.
