Abstract: This thesis mainly embodies a study on microgrids and the components of the microgrid system
It also encompasses the case studies of microgrids in India as well in the world.
Designing of a grid connected solar PV system in TERI University campus and its feasibility
analysis is another objective of the thesis. Load assessment is performed and existing electricity
infrastructure are analyzed. The designing of the system is performed with the help of simulation
tool PVSyst, while the financial viability is performed by RETScreen. Homer is used to achieve
optimization of the system and to find the levelized cost of electricity. The results derived from
the project would be beneficial for the University in development of solar PV based microgrid in
the TERI University campus.
