Abstract: The Indian education market has witnessed a series of developments in the last few years,
which have resulted in a significant increase in market size of the education industry. With
increasing per capita income, national economic growth and enhanced technology, new
segments like e-learning are slowly shifting the education market towards a new direction.
Indian education market at USD 80bn consists of two segments formal and non-formal
education. The game changer in the industry right now is the convergence of Education,
Publishing and Digital. The Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) segment is the forerunner in
this followed by Higher Education. Schools are adopting blended learning as publishers gear
up to offer digital content with all books.
