Abstract: Landscape of the Indian telephony has undergone a tremendous change in the past decade.
Indian telecom operators added a staggering 227.27 million wireless subscribers in the 12
months between Mar 2010 and Mar 2011 averaging at 18.94 million subscribers every month.
Currently the industry, society and the nation as a whole is facing challenges to usher into a
new era of technology and services.
However, fortunately these challenges are not limiting for any of the above constituents rather
they have a lot of synergy going forward for the benefit of all involved.
The benefits which the mobile value added services (MVAS) can offer are multiple such as
Entertainment, Information, M-commerce and Mobile apps.
The research is aimed at identifying the marketing, positioning, segmenting and implementing
these services in a phased manner for the benefit and the nation as a whole.
