Sustainability reporting: a case study on HCL tech's sustainability reporting

Abstract:

Sustainability reporting is a process for publicly disclosing an entity’s economic, environmental and social performance and impacts and their initiatives for refining their performance in these areas. The reporting trend is continue to increase there is 30% increase in GRI based reports (from last year).It informs shareholders about the key risks, specially intangibles and challenges for an organisation and its approach towards managing it. The project was taken on to study the development of reporting with the evolving guidelines and compliances (specifically Indian IT service industry) through a comparative analysis of sustainability reports of top three IT service firms (Indian). It also put light on how reporting can help the companies to come upon specific sustainability challenges like Supply Chain and Environment. The survey result within HCL Tech (including senior executives responsible for reporting practices) revealed the awareness and attitude towards sustainability.

The goal of the study is to provide insight into the overall sustainability strategies and approaches adopted by the top Indian IT companies.
