Abstract: The study aims at highlighting the qualitative and quantitative impacts of climate change/variability on grapes in Maharashtra. The grape value chain was selected keeping in view its contribution as a major livelihood activity of communities in several districts of the state. Also, the value chain offers a large domestic and export market and its potential is untapped which calls for huge improvements. The study discusses the major barriers to climate change adaptation practices for the grape growers in the state .The key stakeholders of the grape value chain were interviewed to document and study their perceptions about impacts of climate change on the crop, adaptation practices in the state and value chain constraints. A recommendation framework has been suggested for increasing the efficiency of production and market linkages, value addition of product, capacity building of stakeholders and required policy initiatives.
