Abstract: The CDM mechanism is a project based mechanism under the Kyoto protocol which
attempts to achieve global climate protection and cost minimization by introducing an
innovative system for cooperation in protection against climate change, among
industrialized and developing countries This report basically aims to comprehend CDM in
details, starting from the preparation of the Project Design Document (PDD) till the
issuance of CERs. Renewable energy sector has been in the forefront in majority of CDM
project. The wind energy sector has a number of CDM projects. This report attempts to
form a link between the CDM process and the wind sector with the help of the case study
the Nallakonda Wind Project.. The result involves the outcome of emission reduction
achieved as well as the feasibility aspect of the project. .The prospect of wind energy sector
around the world and particularly in India has also been analyzed.. It is a mechanism
which not only aims to achieve international cooperation on climate change but also aims
to achieve sustainable development along its way.
