Abstract: Sustainability is an important word in today’s time. Sustainability in business or Corporate
Sustainability is based on the triple bottom line which incorporates environmental and social
aspects along with the economic aspects. Corporates are trying to become responsible towards
the societies and communities in which they operate. Corporate Social responsibility is the
continued commitment of businesses to behave ethically and contribute to economic development
while improving the quality of environment and society at large. Many businesses are taking that
extra step towards sustainability. Corporates have understood that they can’t only thrive for
profits; people and planet also need to be taken care off. There are many ways by which
corporates can achieve sustainability-waste management, Managing carbon footprints,
Sustainability reporting, green supply chain management, community benefits, employee
awareness and empowerment etc. Corporate sustainability not only benefits environment and
society but also make a strong business sense. Vodafone India ltd, a telecom company has
undertaken this journey of sustainability. This study explains what businesses can do in their
processes to make a difference. The study identifies waste management and managing carbon
emissions as effective tools for corporate sustainability. It also tries to establish the benefits that
can be achieved by incorporating sustainability practices in business. Some of the benefits like
cost savings, managing wastes and emissions, enhanced brand value are discussed in detail.
