Abstract: Soil health is a major problem concerning scientists worldwide. Till date only use of fertilizers
was done to improve soil health which has led to inefficient use of the applied fertilizers and
water. Poor soil structure leads to inefficient use of water by making it move as runoff. The use
of Crop residues not only improves soil health but also decreases the bulk density of soil hereby
increasing the capacity of soil to retain moisture and has many benefits. But though the farmers
understand the benefits, they are not able to do adopt all the three principles of CA, the reason
being, a farmer has a farming system with different components, which are interlinked. So for
such a paradigm shift we need to understand the farming systems and practices and need to
come up with field level solutions.
