Micro-financing has been in use for quite some time for exploring and utilizing the potential of the poor and small entrepreneurs. Enormous evidences are there that it has written a number of success stories in the Indian sub-continent too. In my work what I propose to attempt to examine is whether and how far such schemes have been beneficial for women especially in the Delhi region.
The idea of my thesis hence is to understand, how micro financing schemes in Delhi have been functioning and how have they benefitted women who are considered to be the prime focus of such schemes due to the fact that their financial status has a direct impact on the family‘s nutrition, health status and education of the children.
So the central idea of the thesis would be to:
• Understand the micro financing schemes functioning in the Capital city of India, Delhi through case studies of some of the prime microfinance institutions working in this area.
• Understand the various RBI regulations for MFI‘s and how institutes in the capital city have been faring
• Understand how grace periods are correlated with current and previous loan sizes and income levels of the borrowers.
