Abstract: With the increase in the size and capabilities of the Indian national security forces comes considerable concern about the ability of the government of India to sustain the forces. The Barracks is an essential building for the training of the soldiers. For this there seems to be a vital need for creating institutions so as to equip and train the troops to handle contingencies better. For this purpose barracks are being constructed not only in border areas but also in non-border areas.

M/s Marg Constructions is one of the firms engaged in making of barracks for CISF. The most recent use of these barracks will be for the stationing of security forces that will be called in from all over India for the Commonwealth Games. The project provides a careful study of the various steps of project management which considers significant activities pertaining to construction units such as plant material, equipment and labor levels and inspections as part of routine activities.

The majority of the construction has the standards of the Statement of Work and design. The inspection team was satisfied with the work in progress at the project site. It was ensured that all deficiencies cited during quality assurance inspections were corrected. Coordinating the activities between different departments and ensuring the proper work flow was a good learning experience. The Quality Assurance Representative also completed daily quality assurance reports. The observed project results are consistent with the task order objectives. A few recommendations have been made after the observations. Overall, the project has resulted in the construction of the barracks and facilities required in the Statement of Work.
