Abstract: GMR Group is one of the fastest growing infrastructure organizations in the country with interests in Airport. The management of the airport is under Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a joint venture led by the GMR Group, which also has the responsibility for the airport's ongoing expansion and modernization. Owing to the booming Indian Aviation industry and the entry of numerous low-cost private carriers, the airport saw a huge jump in passenger traffic and has failed to cope with the demand due to which the new Terminal III is being constructed. The report provides a detailed study of the various procedures of construction and project management which have been followed during the course of the project. The purpose of these procedures is to define the process and actions required and to impose sufficient control on flow of information to ensure correct and efficient construction surveillance of the Contractor and his compliance with the Contract. Inspection and testing construction works including reviewing, verification and audit of contractor’s quality processes, review inspections and maintenance of the same was done as a part of the project.
The new terminal III will be ready for operation on July 3 2010, as the report suggests that the project finishes works are almost over and the inspection stage to observe the quality requirements are going on. The Terminal will be completely operational before the Common Wealth Games and this will mark the completion of Phase I of the New terminal Building T3.
