Abstract: Mohenjo-Daro was built around 2600 BCE and abandoned around 1500 BCE. It is a remarkable
construction, considering its antiquity. It has a planned layout based on a grid of streets, which
were laid out in perfect patterns. At its height the city probably had around 35,000 residents. The
buildings of the city were particularly advanced, with structures constructed of same-sized sun
dried bricks of baked mud. The Indus Valley Civilization was prominent in hydraulic
engineering, and had many water supply and sanitation devices that were the first of its kind.
In India planning is not a recent activity. For years planners have planned cities for the best
utilization of available land, but as the population are increasing at a rapid pace; to
accommodate the large population the ethics of planning have been changing.
Now planning an urban landscape has to be done scientifically.
The purpose of this project is the perspective development planning of the town Dongargaon, the
plan is made according to the Norms and Standards lay by Ministry of Urban Affairs.
The proposed plan aims at preserving the existing water bodies, forest, settlement and trying to
increase green space. Hence sustainable development is followed. The project aims at bringing
logical connectivity in the city with help of AM/FM.
