Abstract: Microgeneration is an age old concept but had been forgotten in the vague of heavy
industrialization and application of concept of economies of scale. But it also important
to note that bigger projects are not viable at all the places and require allocation of
resources at a larger scale causing inefficiency. On the other hand microgeneration
utilizes the indigenous resources that too on an optimal level. It also encourages
individuals to monetize the energy usage as they become producers as well as consumers.
Policies for the uptake of microgeneration already exist in many countries; the study
aims to device a similar policy for India.
