Abstract:

The study aims to find out the role of sustainable practices in Dairy farming in Uttarakhand. The role of biogas plants in the lives of dairy farmers is to understand the proper usage of cattle dung for their benefit and the environment. This study aims to understand the economic and financial viability of varied sizes of biogas plants, and also to understand farmers' perception about the adoption if given targeted incentives by the government. This study will be done through semi-structured questionnaires for different stakeholders and farmers to gather quantitative and qualitative data. For methodology, CBA has been used to understand economic viability, and CVM to understand farmers' perception about adoption by adding a hypothetical scenario to this study. Logit Regression has been used for an analytical study to understand the connection between WTP and other socio-economic variables. This study has revealed that biogas plants are an economically and financially viable project, and farmers benefit in both tangible and intangible ways. The study adds that dairy farmers are willing to adopt the project, and key problems stated related to adoption lack of space, resources, and technical knowledge. The study contributes to the broader understanding of sustainable practices and their adoption by farmers and offers policy recommendations to enhance their effectiveness.
