Abstract:

In this digital era, social media has become a revolutionary driver, redefining how societies communicate, organize, and make demands for change. People from all walks of life use these platforms. Amongst all age brackets, the youth are the most active players on the online platforms. They have used social media to voice their concerns on various issues, ranging from environmental disasters. From virtual protests and online petitions to digital storyte11ing and viral campaigns, young people employed social media platforms effectively to make people aware, shape public debate, and hold policy inaction to account. This dissertation probes the interactive, dynamic nexus between social media, youth engagement, and environmentalism through comparative approaches in Germany, India, and Uganda. This goes deeper into the led green movement, their digital and legal consequences, their constitutional and legal environments supporting or limiting their activism, and their youth-led digital advocacy contributions toward shaping or remaking environmental law and policy. By juxtaposing Germany, India, and Uganda, each with unique socio-political and technological contexts, this research provides a balanced view of the power and limits of youth activism in the digital age and its increasing impact on national and global environmental governance.
