Abstract: Selection of right set of financial instruments for investment is critical for the investors to achieve their objective for investment. The greatest challenge faced by the investor is limited time, lack of knowledge and risk involved in investment. There are plenty of financial instruments available for investors in the market, but the investment depends upon an investor in which he/she prefers to invest. The reason for investment varies from person to person. This project is intended to understand the investment pattern of the investors. Investment in equities through direct and indirect route like mutual funds and portfolio management services is discussed in this project to justify the topic: “asset management is more preferred route to investment compared to direct equities.†Therefore, in the light of the survey conducted, it is observed that these days asset management is gaining preference in the investment pattern of the investors. Survey was conducted at two different levels to reach to the conclusion.
