India has taken several steps to improve business responsibility & address sustainability issues over the years, following the relevant global standards & disclosures. This led to the formal launch by the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on 10th May, 2021, of a new format for ESG disclosures called Business Responsibility & Sustainability Report (BRSR). It replaces the existing one called Business Responsibility Report (BRR).
Occupational health in hospital settings is a critical area of focus that ensures the well being and safety of healthcare professionals. The Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating the non financial aspects of business operations, including occupational health measures.
The BRSR framework integrates Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from international standards, aligning with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting trends. By applying BRSR analysis to hospital settings, this study evaluates how hospitals maintain and improve workplace conditions, manage risks, and ensure the health and safety.
The research methodology includes a quantitative analysis of BRSR disclosures from leading hospitals, supplemented by qualitative interviews with hospital administrators and healthcare workers. The findings are expected to reveal the extent to which BRSR metrics correlate with improved occupational health outcomes and identify areas where hospitals can enhance their practice
The results of this study will provide valuable insights into the role of BRSR in promoting a safe and healthy work environment in hospitals. It will also offer recommendations for hospitals to integrate BRSR analysis into their operational strategies effectively. Ultimately, this thesis will contribute to the broader understanding of sustainable healthcare practices and the importance of non financial reporting in achieving them.
