Abstract:

The transportation sector is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution in India. Heavy vehicles, including trucks and buses, are particularly i mpactful due to their reliance on diesel fuel, which results in high emissions of particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxide. As India seeks to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability, exploring alternative fuels for heavy ve hicles has become a crucial priority.

This study aims to analy s e the feasibility of alternative fuels for heavy vehicles in India. The focus is on evaluating various fuel options such as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), biodiese l, electric powertrains, and hydrogen fuel cells based on their environmental benefits, economic viability, and infrastructure requirements.
