Abstract:

Assam experiences severe annual monsoon floods, which are intensified by its unique geography and the effects of climate change. These floods negatively impact animals in protected places like Kaziranga National Park and seriously harm agricultural regions in the Brahmaputra floodplain. Using remote sensing instruments and machine learning techniques, this study compares the flooded year of 2022 with a non-flooded year of 2018, thereby examining the effect of the floods in Assam in 2022 on agricultural productivity. This research offers a thorough examination with the goal of estimating the Assamese rice yield. It investigates how floods affect different crops in the area, using cutting-edge geospatial tools like SNAP and ERDAS Imagine software for accurate data processing and visualisation. This report offers a comprehensive evaluation of the losses suffered by various crops in the Assamese areas impacted by flooding by fusing the latest technology with agricultural knowledge. Through this innovative approach, the study provides insightful information to support targeted interventions and strategic decision-making with the goal of reducing the negative effects of natural disasters on crop productivity and ensuring regional economic sustainability.
