Abstract:

This thesis explores the interrelationships between Green Technological innovation and CO2 emissions in G7 and G20 countries from the time period of 1990-2022 using panel data analysis. The study uses CO2 emissions as the dependent variable and environmental patents as a % of total patents, research and development, GDP Growth, Renewable energy consumption, Human capital index, exports and imports as the independent variables, in order to find the effective policies that can control for CO2 emissions. A number of tests are used for the result part which consists of unit root test, cointegration test, panel-autoregressive distributive lagged method, panel causality test and the correlation test. The result shows that GDP growth, imports and human capital index has an effect on the level of CO2 emissions. The policy implications for the same are suggested at the end.
