The whole study is about looking at the power procurement strategy of Discoms of four states, where the focus will be looking at the share of power procured by fuel type, the capacity charges, variable charges, contracted PLF, capacity share of the utility and energy off-take. The data has been collected from individual Discoms tariff order. In the tariff order Discoms proposed the average ARR requirement for power purchase through different Genco’s. The study has also looked at the percentage wise share of different fuels in energy procurement of the Discoms of respective states. The average PLF on which the different plants (based on different type of fuels) are running as compared to the national average of PLF of power plants. The capacity charges that Discoms are paying for the contracted capacity with Coal, Nuclear and Large hydro power plants. The percentage fuel share for all four different states. The variable charges being paid by Discoms for the energy procured. The total charges including capacity plus variable charges paid by Discoms for procuring power.
