Banking sector as a backbone of the economy plays a crucial role in several aspects in strengthening all other business, people and social institutions. If we consider the Indian banking sector it is still very much a human capital-intensive sector and as much as the physical health the mental health of the employees is equally important. Banks have been performing quite well on ESG indices in past few years, there are mentions about mental health related benefits. But through the survey questionnaire and primary research we have come to the conclusion that most of the employees are not getting mental health benefits though it is provided in the bank's agenda. We had three key informant interviews through which we realised that most of the employees are not aware that banks provide these facilities. The second important point is even if they know, they do not find it safe to go to a therapist offered by the bank and the third important point is most of the employees face issues related with work hours, office politics, conflict resolutions, etc which is explained in this paper below. The word included in most of the ESG frameworks regarding employee health - “health” is inclusive of mental health but mostly physical health remains on the forefront while making any policies for employees.
