ANNOUNCEMENTS
The dissertation focuses on the transition plans of Indian corporates for taking climate actions against the climate change and for meeting the globally accepted 1.5-degree Celsius climate scenario by 2050, also known as the Net-Zero target. The study of this dissertation has been carried out on the basis of the data provided by CDP “a not-for-profit organization which runs the global disclosure systems for companies, investors, cities and states for managing their environmental impacts”.
The main objectives of the project include-
- Studying about how the Indian corporates are aligning their businesses for achieving the globally accepted net-zero or a 1.5-degree Celsius temperature target by 2050 to tackle climate change.
- Providing insights and inferences on the corporates’ identified risks and opportunities associated with the change in climate.
- Commenting on whether the Indian corporates will be able to achieve the net-zero target by showcasing a temperature rating scenario analysis of the year 2100.
- Discussing the strategies that Indian corporates can take into consideration for effectively and efficiently achieving the net-zero ambition and the areas which have the further scope of improvements.
The methodology adapted to achieve the objectives include, referring to the secondary research methods and conducting the data analysis for providing the inferences and insights on data being provided to CDP by the corporates that disclose to CDP for managing their environmental impacts.
The main learnings and findings of this dissertation include, learning about the actions that the Indian corporates are taking against the climate change and what are the climate related risks and opportunities that they are identifying which could have a negative or a positive impact on their businesses.
