Abstract:

The topic of the study “‘G’ in ESG: Strengthening Corporate Governance Mechanisms for Sustainability Disclosures through ESG Advisory” captures the interplay between sustainability disclosures BRSR, GRI, & TCFD, and corporate governance mechanisms highlighted through the ‘Governance’ aspect of ESG and how ESG advisory can play a role in strengthening G in ESG. The study objectives include:
• Understanding the role, importance, and linkages of corporate governance in sustainability disclosure mechanisms,
• Contributing to providing ESG consulting for strengthening G in ESG for sustainability disclosures like BRSR, GRI, and TCFD, and
• Outlining the roadmap for corporate sustainability through strengthening corporate governance practices and disclosure mechanisms.

To achieve the objectives, the study critically analyzes G factor in ESG. It also elaborates on the three prominent disclosures BRSR, GRI, and TCFD using case-study-based methodology to showcase their linkages with the governance mechanisms of ESG. The case-study approach followed includes three different industries which brings diverse perspective of ESG to the study. Several qualitative, quantitative, and technical tools are used throughout the study followed by managerial and policy implications and recommendations on the enhancement of corporate governance practices as linked with sustainability disclosures readiness. The key finding include detailed mapping of governance-related disclosure factors in BRSR, GRI, and TCFD with corporate governance mechanisms in the organizations. The study aims at emphasizing on the importance of G in ESG in the light of prominent sustainability disclosures and how ESG management consulting & advisory can play a role in enhancing corporate sustainability as a whole.
