Abstract:

The study examines the feminization of agriculture in India, focusing on increased female participation in agricultural activities and farm management. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used, including analy s ing data from the PLFS survey report and conducting a primary survey in a village in Nadia, West Bengal , in a sample comprising of jute cultivators. While the study finds evidence of the feminization of agricultural labour , it raises concerns about the level of empowerment experienced by wome n involved in agriculture. The extent of feminization in farm management is also assessed, and overall, the study suggests that despite increased female participation, the empowerment of women in agriculture requires further investigation.
