Abstract:

The Energy Ladder hypothesis suggests that households behave like utility maximizing neoclassical consumers who switch to more sophisticated energy sources as their income rises. As the families’ socio-economic status improves, they abandon technologies which are inefficient and polluting. The Energy Transition from fuelwood and biomass to LPG in India is considerable but need of the hour is to include more sustainable alternatives. The given study tries to identify the obstacles which are barriers for transition towards PNG in Delhi area. A primary survey along with comprehensive stakeholder analysis was followed to gain profound insights and fostering a holistic understanding from diverse perspectives.

Key words: cooking fuel transitions, LPG, PNG, Delhi.
