Russia Ukraine war, oil prices and renewable electricity production

Abstract:

The thesis aims to analyse the impact of Russia Ukraine War, a conflict which has had far reaching economic consequences across the globe especially for global energy markets on the domestic oil prices of 23 countries for the time period of 24 months. The study will also delve into the historical events surrounding the conflict as it is crucial to get historical background of the conflict . The thesis will explore the trends o n oil prices, countries reliance on Russian Oil and renewable electricity productio n and also attempt to understand reasons behind the oil price volatility The empirical analysis will help in deciding if the countries reliance on Russian Oil plays a signi ficant role in their domestic oil prices.

Furthermore, the study delves renewable energy transition in context of the Russia Ukraine war. The study will also graphical analyse the pre and post war patterns in renewable electricity production and then atte mpt to empirically analyse the effect of countries reliance on Russian oil and oil prices on renewable electricity production.

Finally, the research concludes that Russia Ukraine war has significant and negative impact on Oil prices and rising oil prices positively and significant affect the renewable electricity production. The study makes some policy implications such as need of diversification, creation of jobs among others.
