Abstract:

Rapid urbanisation has led to the need for smart solutions to cope-up with the complexities so as to improve quality of life. This has resulted in the need to optimise resource while integrating infrastructure for Smart solutions, making them sustainable in nature. This study was conducted to assess the benefits and feasibility of Smart Poles Project undertaken by New Delhi Municipal Council Smart City Limited in New Delhi Area. Aim of this study was to assess the benefits of Smart Poles and to identify gaps & challenges for future installation of such poles in NDMC Area, New Delhi. Mix methodological approach was used in conducting this study. A user survey was conducted to assess the benefits availed by the citizens. Relevant Documents including financial bid document, RFP document and Project execution report were analysed. Results showed that there is a scope to integrate Smart Pole Project with other services so as to increase safety, security as well as sustainability. It was found that SmartPole project is feasible from ULB’s perspective as it doesnot involve any financial risks from ULB’s side. This study can aid in future installation of such poles.
