Abstract:

Green startups around the globe are gaining popularity as the visibility of negative ecological effects is now exhibiting failures of the existing market mechanism. These failures for many are becoming an opportunity for a new wave of Green Entrepreneurs. Green Startups will not only play a crucial role in positively stimulating economic growth by declining unemployment and uplifting living standards but they will also help in the reduction of possible harmful effects on the environment. Although, as per IBM the failure rate of startups is extremely high at around 90% in the first five years. The restrictive usage of machines/techniques, disruption in supply chain management and many more, obstruct the scale of the businesses (Mirza 2018). Non-green startups have plenty of resources to advocate their needs and, concurrently, green entrepreneurs are held back due to several disadvantages at various levels. This is high time that we understand this wave of green startups not with the same pre-existing startup parameters. The delay in creating necessary amendments in structures & environment to let the startup scale-up might lead the world to a grave situation where the depletion of resources will affect economic sustainability. This paper aims to identify and to analyses the effects of the challenges through the probit model that are peculiar to green startups in scaling up their businesses while considering knowledge and funding problems to be eliminated by taking university-funded & supported startups.
