Abstract:

The rapid urbanisation in India introduce the no of vehicle users in the every city which cause various parking and traffic issues to deal with such problem smart mission, 2015 made it mandatory for every city to implement smart parking system in their cities as it is one of the important and fast growing smart city solution under the mission, urban spaces like universities, shopping malls or market, airport, commercial area are designed with smart parking systems. Populations of every cities are growing and a well-planned parking system can turn out to be extremely beneficial. As it can help in reducing the traffic congestion in the city as well as the air pollution. Varanasi smart city took a smart move and developed parking under the existing parking in the ABD area of the city and it planning to implement automated smart parking solution, it shall help in making users experience in terms of parking. The aim of this study to understand the difference between the ordinary parking system and smart parking system in the city and also understand the issues related to the parking in the ABD area and propose smart solution to overcome from such parking issues. For the study both primary and secondary source of data were used and the data were collected by visiting the site several times, interviews if the concerned officials of Varanasi smart city limited and users surveys was carried out. And for the secondary sources of data legal reports , journals ,articles and maps related to the smart parking system were studied and analysis of the data collected helped in completing the objectives. The finding for the study were found to be progressive in terms of the smart parking systems such as installation of auto sensors, digital board, automatic pay station etc. but more comprehensive research is required for implementing of smart parking system measures which could lead to sustainable transportation solution.
