Abstract:

India being one of the fastest growing economies also contributes to gigantic amounts of Green House Gas Emissions. The industrial sector contributes to approximately one-fourth of the total emissions made by India. Energy consumption by the sector has been highly responsible in contributing to the same. The study necessarily discusses the role of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the energy consumption in context to the state of Uttar Pradesh comprising of the maximum number of MSMEs in the country. There exists a huge potential in the sector to decrease its energy consumption by the means of Energy Efficient technological interventions. The study aims at addressing the issues that limit the process of mediating the technologies and the way forward towards a path of energy efficient enterprises.
