ANNOUNCEMENTS
The state of Haryana is always known for its problem of Water depletion due to over extraction of ground water. Most of the region in the state is facing this problem and around 85% of its existing 142 blocks. Along with this there also exists the problem of waterlogging in nine districts of central Haryana. The study focusses on three districts of Jhajjar, Rohtak & Sonipat which are among the worst affected districts among all. This problem is a major threat which has existed with us since time immemorial, if left unregulated and unchecked; it can threaten the viability of agriculture in the irrigated agricultural areas of arid and semi-arid regions of Haryana. With this study it has been tried to bring out the current scenario and extent of the problem as well as the reasons and impact. The main focus of the study is on the seasonal fluctuation in the Depth to Water level in the region and it interlinkage with the factors affecting waterlogging & salinity.
