Urban green spaces is an important aspect of the infrastructure development, as it embraces several benefits to the people and environment of the city. With the deteriorating condition of urban environment Smart city mission has adopted the approach to combat adverse effects through climate assessment of infrastructure including green spaces of the city. Moreover, Lucknow Smart City Limited have projects on beautifying parks and open spaces in Qaiserbagh, area based development. Due to time constraint of three months, the study is conducted in Qaiserbagh area only, which belongs to the old city of Lucknow, dense, unplanned and holds the importance due to heritage buildings and parks. The assessment of green spaces through GIS mapping in Lucknow city and Qaiserbagh shows that despite the considerable amount of vegetation in old city, there is reduction in dense vegetation, increment in built up area and open spaces have vanished. Since, parks are most commonly used by people for recreational purpose, it was observed that maintenance of parks is an issue through site visit and literature study. To enhance and improve the parks of Qaiserbagh area under Lucknow Smart City Limited detail assessment of three identified parks as per observation and guidelines and analysis of need of park visitors has been conducted. This report provides the suggestions for improvement with respect to inclusive and sustainable design intervention which has been found effective in maximizing the environmental and equity benefits thus, increasing livability of the city.
