Vending kiosks on the streets are seen as replacements for active building frontages which ensure safety in a city like New Delhi Municipal Council(NDMC) which has a strict urban form. These kiosks are assets owned by the city authorities and are used to provide services to the citizens. NDMC area has approximately 220 vending kiosks whose ownership lies with the Estate Department of NDMC which is also mandated to provide licences and collect rents from the users of these kiosks. A large potential of these kiosks remains under-utilised as they have influence only over the surrounding particular neighbourhood. Thus, they can become an important urban infrastructure which can provide other services which may or may not be connected to the existing function or service they perform. There are different urban services like cycle stands, payments bank, EV charging stations and solid waste management which have immense potential to be integrated with these kiosks so as to make the infrastructure multi-purpose, enhance their usability and increase their economic value by optimising the potential of a small space. The study tries to locate these vending kiosks so as to enhance safety on the streets. Moreover, it also also uses different perspectives of pedestrians and kiosk vendors to ascertain a list of services which could be integrated with these kiosks in the future.
