Year of completion: 2021

Abstract:

In this unprecedented crisis, where a communicable disease it at large and taken the shape of a pandemic, the safeguarding of lives and livelihoods has become the core of government decisions and actions at every level. The enormous challenge for the health care sector lies in its inability to handle patients in need of urgent care with the poor infrastructure and limited resources and safety equipment. Upgrading medical norms, massive testing campaigns, revamping of public policies has been the way so far to counter this public health menace. While the world has witnessed the positive environmental impacts of nationwide lockdowns brought upon by COVID-19 such as cleaner rivers and clearer skies, the same is not the case with respect to solid waste management, or bio-medical waste management specifically.
