This poetic comment by ST Coleridge may have appeared as a testimony of the romantic vision of life in the nineteenth century, but this statement has metamorphosed into a shocking, grim reality of the modern age. The materialistic nature of the human society has opened the gateway to the unbridled exploitation of the resources of the Earth. Among all the other mineral resources excavated from the bosom of the Earth, water is the most precious, enduring and indispensable need for all forms of life surviving inside and outside the surface of the Earth. In case of water, the human greed and thoughtlessness has exploited and polluted it to such an extent that consuming the same has become an inevitable death warrant, fatal to the existence of human life.
