Sustainable Development has become a buzzword, a way ahead for sustaining human life touching upon the triads ie., ecology, society and economic development. The concept had existed in past in essence and had sustained civilizations. Since the Industrial Revolution, anthropogenic activity has grown and has rampantly impacted the environment and society. The unregulated anthropogenic activities have put humanity at perils at its own hands. To counter the unprecedented threat the idea of sustainable development has surfaced in the international forum. The concept since its conception has evolved from quantitative concept to qualitative notion. However, the concept is forever evolving the paper aims to make a strong argument on the conceptualization of sustainable development. The paper delves into the concept of sustainability and suggests its further evolution that shall include restorative, regenerative, production and consumption-based conceptualization of sustainable development.
